Synopsis:
In 2022, the number of de jure foreigners aged 15 or more in Korea was 1.3 million persons, which dropped by 2.2% from 2021. In relation to foreigners by nationality, Chinese nationals increased by 3 thousand persons (+2.5%) whereas Korean-Chinese nationals and Vietnamese nationals decreased by 33 thousand persons (-6.4%) and 7 thousand persons (-3.8) respectively. By status of sojourn, 'Student' and 'Professional Employment' increased by 19 thousand persons (+13.4%) and 2 thousand persons (+4.3%) respectively. 'Work and Visit' and 'Non-Professional Employment' decreased by 26 thousand persons (-21.4%) and 7 thousand persons (-3.3%) respectively.
